For every “he”, “she” and “she”, for every color or every buddy: “Belgium’s next top model” is back and will be released as a ten-part series on Streamz in autumn 2023. Fourteen models without a professional contract try to work their way up into the eyes and hearts of a four-person jury. And you can be one of them.
The winner of the program has a chance to win a professional modeling contract with NOAH Mgmt, an internationally renowned modeling agency founded by Flemish Tom Van Dorpe. According to Streamz, this season’s focus is also on “Next.” Anyone over the age of 18 can participate. It doesn’t matter if you recognize yourself as him, her or that. “The definition of beauty has changed,” says top model Hannelore Knuts in the trailer above. “We believe in the beauty of each of us. All shapes, sizes, genders and skin tones.”
Knuts himself is part of the four-person jury. But the other members of the jury are also Belgians with international fame on and off the catwalk. For example, the designer and co-founder of Essentiel Inge Onsea, the stylist (of Lady Gaga and Rita Ora, among others) Tom Eerebout and Tom Van Dorpe complete the quartet. The jury is also supported by several guest judges.
‘Benelux’ next top model’
“Next Topmodel” is a format that has been around for a long time. The program originated in the USA as – of course – “America’s next top model” and was then fished out in Flanders. In 2009 and 2010, for example, the Dutch/Flemish version of the successful series entitled “Benelux ‘Next Top Model’ was released. The program was the continuation of four seasons of Holland’s Next Top Model (from the Netherlands) and two seasons of Top Model (from Flanders). Contrary to what the name might suggest, no candidates from Luxembourg or Wallonia took part, nor was the program ever broadcast there.
