A step towards rehabilitation in Brighton: After a week in the penalty box, Leandro Trossard is allowed to train with his club again. No breakthrough on the transfer front yet but Arsenal are preparing an official offer.
After coach Roberto De Zerbi’s harsh words at the press conference and testimony from Trossard adviser Josy Comhair, the sting seems to have gone. Brighton say the Red Devils are welcome back to the first team. After leaving the training field ten days ago with a minor knee injury as an excuse, his coach hugs Trossard again. In recent weeks, however, he has banned him from the squad for unprofessional conduct.
“Actually, nothing serious happened,” De Zerbi clarified in the Italian newspaper “La Repubblica” earlier this week. “He just wasn’t fully committed to training and games. I can not stand that. I don’t have to apologize for anything either. Maybe his agent will park it somewhere else for a cheaper rate. Otherwise Leo wouldn’t have told me the truth. Everyone in the dressing room knows how it went. If Leo comes back with the right attitude, I’ll take him back.”
Trossard refuses to sign with Brighton. His contract expires in summer 2024. So far, the southern English club have only received a verbal offer for our compatriot through an agent. Trossard has been offered to several clubs including Tottenham and Arsenal. At The Gunners, they study the file carefully. An official offer has not yet been sent, but there have been talks about Trossard.
Arsenal are still looking for reinforcements as Chelsea have snatched Mykhailo Mudryk from under their noses for €100m. Trossard would cost a lot less. Brighton are hoping for around 30 million.
