Marguerite de Bourbon de Parme (50) and her husband Tjalling ten Keith (47) separated after sixteen years. The former couple made the announcement on Monday. The Dutch princess – the eldest daughter and second child of Princess Irene and Carlos – and her husband parted “out of friendship”.
“Some time ago we together and in a friendly way decided to leave. After a wonderful time spent together for more than sixteen years, when we shared joys and sorrows, now each of us will go our own way, ”they say. “At the same time, we will always walk together as friends and loving parents of our two beautiful daughters.”
Margarita and Tjalling have two children: Giulia (born 2008) and Paola (born 2011). They ask everyone to “give the family time and rest to get used to the new situation” and say they won’t answer any further questions about it.
From 2001 to 2006, Margarita was married to Edwin de Rooy van Zuedewijn. The couple gained attention in the Netherlands in 2003 for the so-called “Marguerite Affair”. Marguerite and Edwin then spoke about the royal family’s dirty laundry and stated that they had been bugged. However, it was later proven that this was not the case.
