A reboot of ‘Harry Potter’ will inevitably find Rupert ‘Ron’ Grint (34). But the actor would rather see that in the form of a series than a movie. And he himself would rather experience it from afar. “It’s time to pass the baton.”
“I want ‘Harry Potter’ to be a TV show,” the actor told GQ Magazine UK. “I think that would definitely work. The films will be remade anyway, I think.” But he feels it’s time to pass the baton. From 2001 to 2011, Rupert played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, but that turns out to be a closed chapter. “It’s a weird feeling because I’m very protective of this role. I recognized so much of him in me and had the opportunity to bring the character to life. It’s hard to let go of something like that, but it would also be nice.”
Grint also admitted that this role felt stifling in the long run. “Towards the end of the films, my own personality merged with that of my character. “I played myself, the lines got blurred. We shot Harry Potter for a full year and promoted the film for the rest of the year. I think we stopped at the right time. If we had continued, it could only have been downhill.”
