The fourteen characters from the new season of ‘The Masked Singer’ are known, but if you want to see all the candidates at work, you’ll have to be patient. Next Friday, “only” seven masked singers will appear in the first show. VTM has just announced who that is in a press release.
Detectives Kevin Janssens, Julie Van den Steen, Andy Peelman and newcomer Bart Cannaerts can look forward to the performances of the first seven masked singers on Friday. They are Mushroom, Lion, Great Light, Skiwi, Soaperstar, Mummy and Raven. With one of them, the curtain falls immediately at the end of the episode. One of the seven figures must therefore immediately show its true colors.
Three duels
The seven masked singers open the show together. Together they sing the swinging song “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson ft Bruno Mars. The characters then compete against each other in a musical duel. Mushroom meets Mummy, Raven spreads his wings against Skiwi and Lion, Big Light and Soaperstar fight with three. Studio audience favorites move on to the next show, whoever gets the fewest votes is unstoppably exposed. With these songs, the seven masked singers let their voices ring out for the first time:
– Champignon sings “Iko Iko” by Justin Wellington
– Mom sings Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”
– Lion sings “I Was Made For Loving You” by Kiss
– Great Light sings “Dancing On My Own” by Calum Scott
– Soaper star sings “Into You” by Ariana Grande
– Skiwi sings ‘Le Freak’ by Chic
– Raven sings “Skyfall” by Adele
The fourteen masked singers are therefore divided into two groups of seven, which perform week after week. Each week, a different group has to say goodbye to a masked singer. Still in the running after six shows, the eight masked singers come together in the grand fusion: The Big Bang. From there it goes straight towards the final.
“The Masked Singer” starts on Friday at 8:35 p.m. on VTM.
