This afternoon, jury trials will gather in Tongeren for a large-scale trial of Luana’s murder from Genk. A 24-year-old young woman was stabbed a few meters from her front door in 2017 during a quarrel with her ex-partner and her best friend.
On June 5, 2017, there was a fierce debate between Luana and her former partner, Emura T. (35), who had a relationship with Anastasia N. (27) at the time. That night, while Luana was walking with her boyfriend and her child, she came across another couple. The atmosphere between the two couples was not good for a while. The victim, Luana, had a child with the accused Emura T. and she was once a good friend with the other accused Anastasia N.
There is still a lot of controversy about exactly what happened, which will be discussed at the hearing.
“This is a special process because it’s already clear that there was a fight between four people who know each other well,” says Philip Danink, a lawyer for the Citizens’ Party. “The battle has escalated to the point of killing someone, but there is still a lot of controversy about exactly what happened, which will be discussed at the hearing.”
Deadly knife puncture wound
The jury will meet soon. The twelve jury trials need to determine which of the two defendants suffered the fatal puncture wound. The trial begins on Friday with a cross-examination of Emrah T. and Anastasia N. The verdict is scheduled for next Thursday.
