In two months, about 1,500 driver’s licenses for Halle-Vilvoorde drivers who used the phone while driving were revoked. This has been reported by the Halle-Vilvoorde Public Prosecutor’s Office.
From May 1st to June 30th, a campaign against the use of mobile phones took place in the Halle-Vilvoorde jurisdiction. The public prosecutor’s office thus wanted road users to be aware of the dangers and possible consequences of using mobile phones.
All drivers pose a serious danger to themselves and other road users
About 1,500 driver’s licenses were revoked during the campaign. The prosecution said, “The number of 1500 people is very high, especially considering the fact that the driver’s license of the person who is actually driving has been revoked.” “At the time of action, all these drivers pose a real danger to themselves and other road users in traffic.”
Violators must appear in court. This will take place in various thematic sessions in September, October and November.
