Football analyst Jan Boskamp (74) was fitted with a pacemaker. The Dutchman said this on the show “Veronica Offside”. “It was very bad. I was almost at the bakery.”
Jan Boskamp hasn’t been in the picture for a long time, but he was back at the table with “Veronica Offside” on Monday. The former coach of Standard and Anderlecht, among others, attended a game of his favorite club Feyenoord for the first time on Sunday. “Good with the doctors there, but they said it was fine,” says the popular Rotterdammer. Although he expected more from his club, who drew 1-1 with Ajax.
So at Boskamp it was much less. “It was very bad. I was almost at the baker’s. I spent six days in intensive care. I had two examination operations, then they put stents in. But it didn’t get any better.” So the analyst decided to see the doctor again. “They said I could go home the next day, but I stayed there for 12 more days.” There he was fitted with a pacemaker. The stocking wasn’t over yet, however. “I got the RS virus (a respiratory infection, ed.) and then my lungs were full of water too.”
Boskamp feels better than ever now. “It’s incredible. I used to say I was so tired. That’s not the case anymore.” And of the nursing staff, he says: “They were fantastic!”
