Davis Mangia was not on the bench for Malta during Tuesday’s friendly against Israel. The national coach has been temporarily suspended “following reports of alleged violations of our policy.”

It was the Times of Malta that rang the bell last weekend. There are reports that national team coach Davis Mangia has committed sexual misconduct against a national team player.

The Maltese Football Association suspended Mangia two days later. According to an official statement, the union had been informed “of possible policy violations.”

Mangia’s contract with Malta runs until the end of 2023. Previously, the Italian worked at Ascoli, Palermo, Bari, Spezia, Italian Promise and the University of Craiova in Romania.
